Just a quick word here regarding thermally modified woods. The past few years it's becoming a very popular option for shafts and butts.

It has many names; torrified, roasted, and some mentioning marine applications (boat lumber...)  we're guilty of it ourselves.   

Select hard maple sawn from the log here at Cue Stock, is kiln dried in one of our vacuum kilns. The process yields the nice bright white hard maple shaft wood the industry has demanded for years. In addition, we offer THERMALLY MODIFIED hard maple products. This is hard maple that has been through a second process in our custom built high temperature kiln. We have over

 All our maple products are available in natural color or thermally modified.
